HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c203W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made in the preparation of a master plan for the use of land at Woolwich Arsenal; when proposals will be announced; and what opportunity will be given for consultations with interested local bodies.

Mr. Wiggin

The Property Services Agency is currently examining for the Ministry of Defence the use of land at Woolwich Arsenal—West—with the aim of producing a master plan for the whole site. They are also looking into the possibility of using part of the site adjacent to Beresford Square, which has been in disposal for some years, for a new headquarters building for the Quality Assurance Directorate (Ordnance). The two studies are proceeding well and the results of both are expected to be available in early summer. There will be a full opportunity for consultations with the local bodies concerned at the appropriate time.
