Miss Wright

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he has any information that petitions for countervailing or anti-dumping duties on imports of steel products to the United States of America from the United Kingdom, other than those listed in the reply to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Handsworth on 25 January, have been, or are likely to be, made; and if he will make a statement.

I know of no petitions or possible petitions for countervailing or anti-dumping duties on imports of steel products to the United States of America from the United Kingdom, other than those listed in the reply which my hon. Friend the Minister for Trade gave to the hon. Member on 16 February.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the latest information he has regarding petitions lodged with the United States Department of Commerce for countervailing and anti-dumping duties on steel imports to that country from countries other than the United Kingdom; and if he will list any products known to be covered, stating whether the petitions have been accepted for investigation or not.

A total of 132 petitions were filed. Of these 16 have been withdrawn by the companies and seven rejected by the United States Department of Commerce, leaving 109 which are continuing. We do not have details of those withdrawn or rejected which deal with countries other than the United Kingdom.
