HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c184W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many civil servants have been made redundant during 1979, 1980 and 1981.

Mr. Hayhoe

[pursuant to his reply, 9 February 1982, c. 324.]: There were 105 premature retirements on the grounds of redundancy from the non-industrial Home Civil Service during 1979, 245 in 1980 and—provisional estimate—730 in 1981. Figures for redundancies of industrial staff are not held centrally.
