HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c178W
Mr. Bright

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether arrangements have been made to resume scheduled air services between the United Kingdom. and Poland.

Mr. Sproat

Regular air services to and from Poland were suspended following the introduction of martial law in Poland in December. In recent weeks the Polish airline LOT has been authorised by my Department to operate a number of ad hoc flights between Warsaw and London in the interests of maintaining some communications and facilitating travel. Following discussions between British Airways and LOT last week, agreement has been reached for the resumption of regular scheduled services on the route by both airlines on a reciprocal basis. The first British Airways flight to Warsaw will take place on Friday 19 February.
