§ 44. Mr. Raceasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by what amounts personal tax allowances would have to be increased in the Budget of 1982 in order to preserve their real value at 1981 Budget levels.
§ Mr. RidleyThe married man's allowance would have to be increased by £260 and the single person's and wife's earned income allowance by £170. These increases are in line with the rise in the retail prices index over the year to December 1981.
