HC Deb 22 December 1982 vol 34 c541W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister for Trade why the Government are planning to grant export credit guarantee support for the sale to Indonesia of naval frigates, Sea Wolf missile launchers, armoured security vehicles and five more Hawk ground-attack aircraft.

Mr. Peter Rees

It has been the policy of this and previous Administrations not to make public details of Export Credits Guarantee Department support for particular transactions.

Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister for Trade if he will make it his policy not to offer any assistance, including export credit guarantees, for military equipment sales to Indonesia, in view of the infringement of human rights in East Timor.

Mr. Peter Rees

No. The Export Credits Guarantee Department will continue to support British exports on the basis of its assessment of the risks involved in each transaction.
