Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the number of people currently registered as unemployed in Wales, and the percentage increase in unemployment since May 1979.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what were the economic activity rate figures for men in Wales for June 1974, June 1978 and June 1982, or the most recent available date prior to June 1982, respectively.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The information is not available in the form requested. However, the results for the Welsh sample of the EEC labour force surveys for the years nearest to those requested are as follows:

Male civilian activity rates
Year per cent.
1975 78.3
1977 76.2
