HC Deb 22 December 1982 vol 34 c535W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Industry to what extent the West German and the Dutch Governments provide subsidies for testing services in their agriculture engineering industries which are not available to United Kingdom companies.

Mr. Butcher

[pursuant to his reply. 16 December 1982, c. 218]: The Government do not aim to match any subsidised facility provided by foreign Governments. Their objective is to establish a trading environment for the manufacturers within which they can operate competitively. We are aware of the schemes operated in West Germany and the Netherlands, and of the proposals for matching this work by the Agricultural Engineering Association. The latter are being considered by my Department.
