§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Prime Minister if the Government will prescribe the condition known as welder's lung as an industrial disease.
§ The Prime Minister"Welder's lung" is not a clearly defined medical term but covers a range of conditions. We have no plans to prescribe it as an industrial disease under the Social Security Act 1975, because we cannot show, on the basis of current medical knowledge, that the requirements for prescription set out in section 76(2) of that Act are satisfied.
