§ Mr. OnslowNo. Nicaragua is a recipient of European Community food and financial aid, but Her Majesty's Government have expressed the view that it would not be appropriate to provide additional aid. This position is under review in the light of information coming out of Nicaragua. Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Council decided in November that Nicaragua should not receive funds from a special aid programme for Central America. Nicaragua is also eligible for emergency relief assistance and a decision about the provision of such assistance would be taken in the light of circumstances at the time.
