§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to amend the Street Offences Act 1959 so that the definition of soliciting will include male approaches to females for purposes of prostitution.
§ Mr. MayhewThe criminal law revision committee published on 9 December a working paper—which has been placed in the Library—setting out its provisional recommendations for possible changes in the law relating to prostitution on which it invites comment. It proposes certain new offences to deal with the accosting of women by men. The Government think it right to await the committee's final recommendations—which will take account of the comments received on the proposals contained in the working paper and parliamentary and other reactions to them—before reaching conclusions on how the law in this area should be changed.
