§ Mr. Terry Davisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many unsentenced people suffering from mental disorder within the meaning of the Mental Health Act 1959 were in custody on 31 December 1981 and 30 June 1982.
§ Mr. MayhewSince September 1981 the six-monthly census of the number of persons in prison department establishments whom the medical officer considered to be mentally disordered within the meaning of the Mental Health Act 1959 has been taken on 30 September and 31 287W March. The number of unsentenced inmates recorded in the censuses for 30 September 1981, 31 March 1982 and 30 September 1982 were 157, 148 and 160 respectively.
