HL Deb 14 April 1982 vol 429 c376WA
Baroness Seear

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What provision they intend to make to enable the Engineering Industry Training Board to support the intake of craft apprentices and technicians this summer, in view of the predicted shortfall in the recruitment of apprentices in the engineering industry caused by the current recession.

Earl Ferrers

A total of 12,500 craft and technician trainees are expected to be recruited to the engineering industry this summer. Of these the Manpower Services Commission has agreed to support 2,000 through the Engineering Industry Training Board at a cost of £7,900,000.

House adjourned at ten minutes past nine o'clock.
