§ Q14. Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Prime Minister when Her Majesty's Government intend to restore the 5 per cent. cut for unemployment benefit in lieu of taxation, having regard to the fact that benefit will be taxed from July 1982.
§ The Prime MinisterWe cannot restore the 5 per cent. abatement of unemployment benefit in 1982. But as my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services has made clear, we will keep the matter under review.
