§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord Privy Seal whether any events have been planned or organised to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the foundation of the European Economic Community; if he will list them; and what will be the total cost.
§ Mr. HurdThe Belgian Presidency organised a programme of events before the opening of the European Council in Brussels on 29 March. These included an `academic session' and a lunch given by His Majesty the King of the Belgians. Britain joined fully in this event, which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister attended, but the Government did not organise any official events in Britain. There was therefore no cost to public funds.
