§ Miss Joan Lestorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consideration he has given to the recommendation contained in the Rayner report that those caring for children and other dependants must first show that care arrangements have been made before being considered available for work.
§ Mr. NewtonThe report made no recommendation about the availability for work of unemployed people caring for children and other dependants and the Government are not considering any changes along the lines of those discussed, but not formally recommended, in paragraph 4.52 of the report.
