§ Mr. Alfred Morris asked the Minister for the Civil Service what response has been made by the Equal Opportunities Commission to the White Paper on Government statistical services; what action is being taken; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. Hayhoe:I have received representations from the Equal Opportunities Commission about a number of points arising from Cmnd. 8236. I met the chairman, deputy chairman and some of the commissioners on 5 October. We had a constructive discussion. The commission does, of course, have statutory responsibilities; and its particular needs will be taken into account in the implementation of the measures outlined in the White Paper.
