HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c458W

Mr. Michael Brown asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total cost to public funds per annum of the Northern Ireland Council for Educational Development.

Mr. Scott: The total cost to public funds for the Northern Ireland Council for Educational Development in the 1981–82 financial year is estimated at £38,000.

Nurses (Meal Costs)

Mr. Wm. Ross asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether the cost of the same meal for a nurse in Altnagelvin hospital, the Tyrone county hospital and the Erner hospital is the same.

Mr. John Patten: No. In general, the price of a meal in hospital depends on the local cost of ingredients. It is possible for nurses, however to take advantage of the meals provided for ancillary staff which, following an agreement with the ancillary and general staffs joint council, are provided at a standard price in all three hospitals.
