§ Mr. Knoxasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many students left secondary schools in the maintained sector last year with (a) no academic qualifications, (b) one CSE, (c) one to five CSEs, (d) one O-level, (e) one to five O-levels and (f) five to 10 O-levels.
§ Dr. Boyson:The information readily available on qualifications of leavers from English maintained schools in 1979–80 is as follows:

§ Mr. Colvinasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of young people leave school without any approved educational qualification.
§ Dr. Boyson:A total of 12.2 per cent. of all English school leavers in 1979–80 had no CSE or GCE graded examination result.
Teachers (Efficiency Assessment)
§ Mr. Dickensasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will take steps to introduce a procedure to assess the efficiency of individual teachers at regular intervals following qualification.
§ Dr. Boyson:My right hon. Friend recognises the importance to education of the quality of teachers performance; and it is a topic to which he intends to give further attention. He does not, however, have any plans at this stage to introduce new procedures.
