HC Deb 26 October 1981 vol 10 c257W

Mr. Woolmer asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, for each decade since 1945, how many charges have been brought, and how many convictions secured in Scotland, under section 7 of the Conspiracy and Protection of Property Act 1875.

Mr. Rifkind:

These offences are not separately identified in the statistics collected by my Department.

Mr. Woolmer asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, for each decade since 1945, how many charges have been brought, and how many convictions secured in Scotland, under section 7 of the Conspiracy and Protection of Property Act 1875, in cases where the events and circumstances concerned occurred during and in the course of an industrial dispute.

Mr. Rifkind:

The statistics collected by my Department do not identify these offences separately and in any event do not contain details of the circumstances in which an offence took place.

Mr. Woolmer asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the last successful prosecution was made in Scotland under section 7 of the Conspiracy and Protection of Property Act 1875, in a case where the events and circumstances concerned occurred during and in the course of an industrial dispute.

Mr. Rifkind:

I regret that this information is not available from records maintained centrally and that to search local records would involve inordinate expense.
