§ Mr. Dorrell asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he intends to take any new initiatives during the months of the British Presidency to improve the operation of the common market for goods and services in the European Community.
§ Mr. Peter Rees [pursuant to the reply, 22 October 1981]: The Government are already supporting the objective of making a reality of a single European Community market for goods and services by commitment of political will and sustained technical effort over a wide range of Community activity. In particular, my Department is continuing to work for the early adoption of the insurance services directive, for progress towards more liberal arrangements for air transport and for a satisfactory solution to the problems connected with Community legislation on technical barriers to trade.
