asked the Secretary of State for Energy what progress has now been made in developing the Cannock Chase drift mine; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Moore:

The development of the Cannock Chase drift mine is a matter for the National Coal Board. I understand however that consideration of the development is still at an early stage.
