Only on one occasion in 1981 has the inspectorate found it necessary to take enforcement action through the issue of an improvement notice, and this was concerned with washing facilities on a demolition site where there was a lead hazard.

§ Mr. WaddingtonA number of lead works in Wales are registered under the Alkali etc. Works Regulation Act10W 1906 and subsequent legislation, but these works are not regarded by the Alkali and Clean Air Inspectorate as major potential emitters of lead.
