§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received in support of changes in local government in Scotland since the publication of the Stodart committee recommendations.
§ Mr. RifkindAround 170 local authorities, organisations and individuals commented on the Stodart committee recommendations. Most were in favour of at least some of the changes recommended. Only some 25 expressed support for any fundamental change in the existing two-tier structure of local government in Scotland.
