§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if the Open University operates a policy of positive discrimination in favour of non-qualified and lower socio-economic group applicants when processing applications to become first-time students.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe Open University does not operate such a policy. Subject to constraints on the number and regional distribution of places available on particular courses and on the proportion of students who are already graduates, the university operates on the basis of first come, first served.
