HC Deb 17 November 1981 vol 13 cc79-80W
Mr. Tilley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the administrative and other changes necessary before the commencement date of the British Nationality Act 1981.

Mr. Raison

The main changes necessary are the making of new regulations; the design and printing of new application forms, explanatory leaflets and certificates; the preparation of publicity material; and the drawing up of new administrative instructions for staff.

Mr. Tilley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to publicise the provisions of the British Nationality Act 1981 among those communities in the United Kingdom and abroad who are directly affected by it.

Mr. Raison

A press release was issued on 30 October explaining the main provisions of the Act. Preparations are being made for further publicity both at home and overseas explaining how the Act will affect particular groups of people.
