Member for West Stirlingshire (Mr. Canavan) on 9 November, why records are not available before 1964 detailing those persons suspected of espionage offences who had been induced to make a confession by an indication of non-prosecution.
§ The Prime MinisterThe records for the period prior to 1964 were not compiled in such a form as to provide a ready indication of cases where such inducements were offered. I could not justify the detailed, time-consuming and expensive operation which would be involved in reviewing all the documentary material for the purpose in question.
