23. Dr. J. Dickson Mahonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will reconsider the unanimous advice of the Scottish Transport Users Consultative Committee to retain the passenger-vehicle ferry service operated by Caledonian MacBrayne between Gourock and Dunoon.
§ Mr. YoungerI have accepted the STUCC's main criticism of the arrangements that were originally proposed for foot passengers. I am now considering with the Scottish Transport Group the best way forward on this matter. In the meantime, and until a satisfactory solution is arrived at, the existing Caledonian MacBrayne service will of course continue.
