asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the minimum age of buildings which, under present arrangements, may be considered for listing under section 54 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971.

Normally 42 years, since the criteria approved by my right hon. Friend for selecting buildings32W to be listed extend to the period 1914–1939. However, some of the buildings designed during this period were actually built after the war.
