§ Mr. Waddington[pursuant to his reply, 13 May 1981, c. 292]: In 1981–82 the estimate for expenditure on external research is £543,000 or 0.065 per cent. of the Department of Employment's estimated total expenditure. In 1980.81 expenditure on research was £497,000 or 0.06 per cent. of total expenditure.
