§ Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will arrange for the Manpower Services Commission to fund the provision of teaching staff for short-term training courses for young unemployed on a longer term than a one-year-at-a-time basis at Ac ton technical college and Southall college of technology.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonShort training courses are run as part of the youth opportunities programme. The programme is reviewed annually in the light of the level of youth unemployment, and to ensure a flexible and rapid response to changing local needs it is not the commission's policy to enter into agreements to fund for more than one year the provision of short term training courses.
