§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make special and urgent finances 36W available to the extent of £250,000 in order to provide a nuclear magnetic resonance system for University College hospital, London, in order to analyse the chemical composition of the body and facilitate more rapid advance of research programmes into muscular dystrophy.
§ Sir George YoungNo. The Department is supporting work on nuclear magnetic resonance imaging equipment at Hammersmith and Nottingham and it would not be feasible or appropriate to increase this effort at this time. The Medical Research Council is supporting other work on applications of nuclear magnetic resonance in medicine.
