§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied with the effect of the measures he has already in operation to reduce the occurrence of measles; and if he will make a statement on the low vaccination uptake.
§ Sir George YoungThe uptake of measles vaccination is about 50 per cent. and I do not regard this as satisfactory. However, the incidence of measles is now less than a quarter of what it was before vaccination was introduced and the disease is often mild. My right hon. Friend has no proposals for any further measures at present, but the joint committee on vaccination and immunisation is continuing to give attention to this matter.
