§ Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Secretary of State for Trade on how many occasions since May 1979 he has discussed shipping issues with the seafaring trade unions and the General Council of British Shipping, respectively; and if he will make a statement on any discussions which have taken place.
§ Mr. EyreSince May 1979 Department of Trade Ministers have had six meetings with the seafaring trade unions, and 13 meetings with the General Council of British Shipping. I regret that the National Union of Seamen has not accepted any of the invitations to meet Ministers; these remain open. Discussions covered a wide range of topics of mutual interest.
