§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to his reply, 17 March 1981.]: Total taxation as a percentage of GDP at market prices is forecast at about 40 per cent. in 1981–82. This compares with 35 per cent. in 1978–79, 36½ per cent. in 1979–80 and an estimated outturn of 38 per cent. an 1980–81.
