§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThere are just over 100 electronics companies in Scotland, employing some 40,000 people. The operations and employment within companies have been significantly affected by the change from electro-mechanical to micro-electronic technology. Electronics employment was 37,200 in 1971. In addition, substantial numbers are employed in companies providing goods and services to the industry.
