Mr. Cartwrightasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the full year cost of disregarding (a) 25 per cent. and (b) 50 per cent. of the widows' pension for income tax purposes.
§ Mr. Peter ReesThe full year costs at 1980–81 income levels would be (a) £30 million and (b) £55 million. These costs assume that the widows' allowance and the national insurance retirement pension paid to widows under 65 would be similarly disregarded.
