§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has received representations from the Gateacre Society regarding the future of Druids Cross stable block; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MonroYes. My Department received a letter from the Gateacre Society in January requesting that this building be added to the statutory list. It was inspected by one of the Department's inspectors of historic buildings who reported that the building qualified for inclusion in the list as a building of special architectural and historic interest. It was added to the list on 21 May. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State subsequently received a further letter from the society asking him to take steps to ensure the protection of the building. This request is being considered and my regional office in Manchester will shortly be writing to the society.
