§ Mr. Derek Fosterasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will take steps to ensure that the special programmes division of the Manpower Services Commission will make a special effort to attract firms employing more than 100 workers to sponsor work experience on employers' premises schemes.
§ Mr. Peter Morrison[pursuant to his reply, 17 June 1981]: The special programmes division of the Manpower Services Commission has always encouraged companies to sponsor work experience schemes and will continue to 450W Derby, Dewsbury, Galashiels, Halifax, Hartlepool, Hawick, Huddersfield, Keighley, Kelso, Kidderminster, Lancaster, Leeds, Leek, Leicester, Londonderry, Macclesfield, Manchester, Market Harborough, Nelson, North Lanarkshire, Nottingham, Oldham, Peebles, Rochdale, Rossendale, Skipton, Todmorden, Wakefield, Warrington, Wearside, Whitehaven and Workington.

To assist this, at the end of 1980 the Confederation of British Industry formed a special programmes unit to recruit senior managers from large organisations to join the unit on secondment to encourage their associates to sponsor schemes. The special programmes division has been strengthened to develop the confederation's initiatives.
