HC Deb 18 June 1981 vol 6 c420W
Mr. Sheerman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take steps to monitor the hours worked, the conditions of work and the opportunities available to junior hospital doctors, especially the house officer and senior house officer grades.

Dr. Vaughan

The Department already keeps all these subjects under regular review. A detailed inquiry into medical education, career structure and related subjects is currently being undertaken by the Select Committee on Social Services; and the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration recently announced that the Office of Manpower Economics will be conducting a survey on its behalf into the workload and responsibilities of junior hospital doctors.
