§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for Trade how many anti-dumping cases have been submitted by the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Electrical Appliances; to what product and source of origin each refers; when they were laid; what the progress is to date; whether there has been delay, and, if so, for what reason; whether he is satisfied with the procedures in each case; and, if not, what action he intends to take.
§ Mrs. Sally OppenheimTwo anti-dumping cases have been submitted by the association to the European Commission, involving single-door refrigerators from Czechoslovakia, the GDR, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the USSR and Yugoslavia and cylinder vacuum cleaners from Czechoslovakia, the GDR and Poland. These cases have been under discussion with my Department's anti-dumping unit, the European Commission and the appropriate European trade association since the spring of 1980 but the latest versions of the association's complaints were not lodged with the Commission until March 1981.366W The refrigerator complaint has now been opened for investigation and notice of this will appear in the official journal of the European Communities shortly. The cylinder vacuum cleaner complaint is still being considered by the Commission.
I am satisfied that the proper procedures have been followed in both cases, despite the fact that they are taking longer to process than I would wish. This is because it has taken some time to assemble the necessary evidence of pricing on the Community market of products involving a range of different models. My Department's anti-dumping unit has given and is continuing to give all possible assistance to the association and I hope that speedy action can be taken by the Commission to pursue these two complaints on the basis of the evidence it now has.
