§ Mr. HurdThe total amount paid out in statutory redundancy payments and compensation payments since May 1979 by the non-departmental public bodies sponsored by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including the Overseas Development Administration, has been £1,070,266. The average payment per employee is280W £6,905 and the payments range from £822 to £31,770. In addition, a number of former employees are receiving pension benefits at an earlier date than normal retirement age, but the exact cost of this could not be calculated except at excessive expense.
