§ Mr. Ray Powell
asked the Secretary of State for Trade, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Glasgow, Govan (Mr. McMahon) on 2 June, Official Report, c. 302, what factors apply which allow figures of company liquidations to be available for Scotland but not for Wales.
§ Mr. Eyre
It would not be possible without considerable expense to analyse the records of companies registered in England and Wales, all of which are kept by the registrar of companies at Cardiff, with a view to identifying those whose registered offices are situated in Wales. The records of companies registered in Scotland on the other hand, are kept by the registrar at Edinburgh.
