§ Mr. Dorrellasked the Lord Privy Seal, since May 1979, what new proposals for population projects, in the bilateral aid programmes have been considered; to which 293W countries these proposals relate; how many, and which, of these proposals have been implemented; and what is the estimated cost of those implemented.
§ Mr. Neil MartenThe following proposals have been made formally by the Governments concerned:
- (i) UK contribution to IBRD second population project; Bangladesh;
- (ii) UK contribution to UNFPA primary health care project;, Belize;
- (iii) Request for advice on population census; Gibraltar;
- (iv) Orissa family welfare project; India;
- (v) UK contribution to IBRD second population project; Kenya;
- (vi) Request for contraceptive supplies; Pakistan;
- (vii) Request for support to National Population Commission; Senegal;
- (viii) Request for census adviser; Zimbabwe.
The Orissa project is being implemented over the period 1980–85 at a cost of £10.84 million. The projects in Gibraltar and Zimbabwe will be implemented later this year at a cost of £5,000 to £40,000 respectively.
