§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will seek to increase the non-contributory benefits for disabled people as proposed at the last annual general meeting of the Disablement Income Group (Scotland).
§ Mr. RossiThe Government have maintained the value of these benefits by raising them annually along with other social security benefits. Resources are not available for a general increase in benefits which would improve their purchasing power, although mobility allowance has gone up in real terms in recognition of the needs of people with severe mobility problems.
