§ Dr. VaughanInformation is not available in the precise form requested. The following table shows the basic salary maxima of the main nurses and midwives Whitley pay grades effective from 1 April in each of the years 1978, 1979 and 1980 and the increase over the 1 April figure in the previous year. The figures for 1978 and 1979 relate to a 40-hour week. The 1980 figure relates to a 37½-hour week: additional payments were made in that year at plain time rates for hours worked in excess of 37½. Various additional payments, including premium rates for conditioned hours worked at night or at weekends or on bank holidays and a wide range of allowances, were also increased in the period in question.
