§ Mr. Bodyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has engaged any additional veterinary staff as a result of the European Economic Community directive 77/99.
§ Mr. WigginNo additional veterinary staff have been employed by the Ministry as a consequence of the introduction of European Community Directive 77/99. For many years previously, the Ministry had engaged private practitioners to carry out the veterinary supervision and certification of meat products required by importing countries. Since the directive took effect and more plants have been approved, a further six such practitioners have been appointed for this purpose. All concerned work on a part-time basis, as required, on the supervision of export production only.
