§ Mr. David HowellMy non-nuclear research and development expenditure was £27.8 million in 1979–80 and £33.1 million in 1980–81. Of these sums 0.15 per cent. and 0.8 per cent. respectively were placed with organisations in Wales as prime contractors. My nuclear research and development expenditures for the same years were £145.5 million and £186.1 million for which no organisation in Wales was a prime contractor. I regret that expenditure with sub-contractors in Wales could not be identified without disproportionate cost.
