HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c591W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, when he next meets bodies representative of local authorities, he will discuss with them the availability of local authority land for joint ventures between the authorities and private house builders.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

I hope to discuss progress on this and other aspects of the low-cost home ownership programme at the next meeting of the Housing Consultative Council planned for the autumn. In addition, the Department is working with the House Builders Federation to arrange a series of regional presentations for both councillors and officers on starter home provision. I am encouraged by progress so far; while 21 authorities made land available for private development under licence in 1980–81, I understand that 120 plan to do so in the current financial year.
