HC Deb 30 July 1981 vol 9 c512W
Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps the Government are taking to draw attention to the current Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development project on the education of the handicapped adolescent; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

British experts are participating in a number of international conferences and seminars which form part of the second phase of this project, and the Government are joint sponsors with OECD of a conference on the handicapped adolescent to be held in Cardiff this September. The conference will be hosted by the South Glamorgan county council and my noble Friend the Minister of State, Department of Education and Science and my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Wales, the Member for Cardiff, North-West (Mr. Roberts) have agreed to speak. Participants have been invited from a wide range of public authorities, voluntary bodies and others interested in the subject.
